Some good news for cricket-lovers in Munich; Marylebone Cricket Club, THE MCC, the oldest cricket club in the world (and the second most globally renowned ‘MCC’ after us) has provisionally agreed to partake in a weekend of friendly cricket games against the Munich CC in late August this year.
The games will take place at our home ground at the Hirschanger Sportanlage im englischen Garten from 12PM onwards, played in white kits and with red balls.
A tentative schedule for the weekend has been planned as so:
– Game 1: Saturday, 21st August, 40 overs friendly
– Game 2: Sunday, 22nd August, 40 overs friendly
This tour was originally planned for the summer of 2020 but had to be postponed due to the current covid pandemic.
* This highly-anticipated tour has been organised provisionally, with effects and restrictions assosicated with the COVID-19 pandemic possibly overuling but the best laid plans. We do of course dearly hope that the world will be a much better place by August later in the year with frictionless border -crossings and air-travel between the UK and mainland Europe.
“…But Mousie, thou art no thy-lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!…”
