A fine day at the Hirschanger and the first game ever against PACC from Neu-Ulm. The friendly was arranged against Serendib but they bailed on Thursday evening so all credit to PACC for confirming the fixture after only 30 minutes checking on Friday afternoon. Captain Alagh won the toss and decided to bat first in a 30 over friendly which was soon changed to a 35 over friendly. Although we had a full team, Mahmud Khan turned up and PACC agreed to play a bat 12 field 11 fixture.
MCC opened with Otmakhil and Altmann, with the bearded one departing for 1 in the 2nd over and the score on 8. Hashimi arrived and together with Altman put on 29 for the 2nd wicket then, when Altmann departed was joined by captain Alagh who immediately ran himself out on the first ball he faced. Bowes also joined the duck race and MCC were 32 for 4 down. Hashimi and Furlonger put on 19 for the fifth before Hashimi was bowled for 11 and four runs later Usman Asif also ran himself out. Govendar and Furlonger added 19 runs for the seventh before Furlonger was run out, this time a very good direct hit. Some hard hitting by Govendar, aided by Toke gave a 30 run partnership for the eigth wicket. Then Govendar was bowled and In the next over with no addition to the score Toke went. Sestan and Imtiaz Ahmed added 5 for the 10th wicket leaving Sestan and Mahmud Khan to bat out the remaining overs and take the final score to 125.
After teas provided by Bowes MCC opened the bowling with Govendar and Altmann who bowled tightly taking five wickets between them, Altman one in each of his three overs. After six overs the score was 17 for 4 down. Imtiaz replaced Altmann, got his wicket and was very liberal with his wides for two overs before being exchanged for Sestan who bowled one over only. Toke bowled well for four overs getting two wickets as did Usman Asif who bowled three overs for 10 runs, six of which were wides or no-balls. Hashimi had one over and took the decisive wicket of Qamar, their top scorer, just at the time when it appeared the opposition might yet win the game. PACC decided they would not bat 12 so the last wicket was taken by Imtiaz Ahmed in his second spell. Next Saturday there will be a Division II league match against PACC, again at the Hirschanger, so it was useful to get a look at them beforehand.
